Looking for a joystick...

That can be physically locked so that it only works left-right and up-down and functions like a controller from a legacy arcade cabinet game without any movement along either diagonal axis. I know I can lock out that out in software so that the movement doesn't register, but I'd prefer to have it done on the hardware side so the stick doesn't even move in those directions. Is it possible in any full-sized conventional joystick or will I have to go for a gamepad with a mini 4-way stick?

Note, this is for PC, not a console.

Get a fancy PS3 joystick (with arcade parts), and get a four-way "gate" for it, and mod it. That's the best way I know how. Look up "X-Arcade" too.
