There is very little articles on inkjet printers on the net so could someone give me some recommendations or websites for an inkjet printer. My HP680C died the other day and I have to buy something else. Thanks.

I've used an HP 812C that cost $150 about a year ago. It is a very reliable printer - never jams, prints on both sides easily, and can be used in "econfast" mode to conserve ink, etc. etc.

Try to move up to one of the HP 900 series if it is in the budget.

Epson is also very good. See this PC Magazine article or this one in PC World Magazine.

P.S.
1. The 812C's counterpart today is the 842C - it costs $150.
2. Don't you mean "Keyser Soze?" :)

Most everything I've seen has rated the HP 842C quite highly, though I don't have any experience with inkjets myself. It's the printer I plan to buy when I have the cash, and it can usually be found for around $150.

Yeah I have the 932c from that estamps promo, sure I'm biased cause it was free but it's worked very well for me so far.

I was very amazed at the quality of the Epson 880. And it's by far the quietest injet that I've ever heard.

I would say if you can find a 932C for $150 then go for it. That is the one I sell the most of when Im walking printers over at best buy.

If possible go for the HP 900 series as opposed to the 800 series - the 800 is based off older technology (the technology in the 800 series is about 2 years old now). The 900 uses HP's Photo Layering Technology, which to sum it up, makes colors more vibrant and colorful.

If you want the nitty gritty, take a picture with green in it. Print it out on a piece of paper. That green is really made out of yellow and blue dots placed right next to each other, which in reality is not a true green. The HP PLT mixes the blue and yellow before it's placed on the page, making a true green and therefore, making colors look better overall. The 932c or the 970 are two printers I recommend.

Funny nobody mentioned the Z52 by lexmark. Can be had for 150 and that 1200x2400 resolution kick some major @ss. Try to look up some reviews on that one.

I want to give my good marks to the HP 812C, liked it so much I had my sister buy one for $150 also. Probably the best $ I ever spent..I'm not sure about all modern printers, but I would recommend getting one that has both parallel and USB connectors like this printer - nice to get rid of the bulky parallel cable, and eases installation a little bit. The HP 812C has this.

I've been running an HP 895Cxi for a while now, and I just picked up an HP 842C for my laptop. There is a tremendous difference in speed between these two units. The draft or Econo Fast settings between the two is night and day. The 895 literally flies off the desk in Econo Fast setting, while I can't tell the difference between normal and draft mode on the 842.

If you have a Sam's Club near you, they are selling (at least in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area) the 895Cse (same as Cxi, just different software bundle) for $159, which is only $10 more than Best Buy sells the 842C. Both of these printers do a fine job on a variety of papers. AFAIK the 932C usually sells for $199 @ places like Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, etc.

SUMMARY:
This is the Best printer that I have ever owned, I own both the Z52 and the HP 970cse, I have not used the Hp in the 3 months ive owned the lexmark, sure the cartidges cost more then the hp, but i get up to twice as much ink, so it comes out to be less expensive to print, on my HP you need Hp's photo paper, otherwise it prints a crappy 600dpi, For Price and Performance, this is the best printer to get, i trully did get the BEST BUY

SUMMARY:
I really love this printer!!! I have used it a few months and am impressed each and every time. Text comes out very good and the pictures on photo paper look like 35mm quality. Speed is very reasonable for the high end output.
The best part is I got all this for just $179. No wonder it has been PC Worlds best pick since it came out. YES!!!

I have bias against HPs. I had a HP 660C, and it was a POS. I'm enjoying my epson 860 that I got a while ago, for $60 after rebates. If you can find a 860, it retails for only $99 now, and can handle anything you throw at it. With the right paper, and high res settings, the output is GREAT. Theres not that much difference between the 860 and the new 880, so saving the extra $50 is worth it.

p.s. I heard that the HP 8 series didn't have win2k drivers? Epson has great win2k drivers, so if you plan to run win2k, seems epson is the way to go.

The HP 932 is a very good value in my book. It is a fair bit faster than the 810/812/848 series and the 9xx series can use the larger HP cartridges as compared to the smaller econo cartridges that the 8xx series requires. Since the econo cartridges hold half the ink as the standard cartridges, at 90% of the cost, this makes the slight extra cost of the 9xx series printer worth the extra money.

Yup, go with an HP. The best one you can get for the price you want. Inexpensive and very good printers.

I'd have to agree with Hieftz.....the Epson 860 Stylus color is the way to go....about a hundred on the web...fifty dollar rebate is still good i believe and if you can pick up a coupon somewhere you'll almost match my 29.00 printer I picked up from Office Max a while back. It's a great printer and the ink cartridges are inexpensive...the generic ink cartridges work great (black costsabout 4.00 color about 6) and I cant tell the difference between epson ink and generic.

I just picked up the HP 932C at Best Buy for $200. Very quiet, good print quality, and fairly fast. Black text is dark and sharp, and colors are vibrant and accurate. Large ink cartridges also.

Anything from HP is good, a little $$$ per page but you get new heads everytime you replace the cartridge.
