Wow I didnt think the shuttle heatpipe would do so well in that round up. I also thought the Ax-478 would do alot better than it did. Most heatsink round ups dont have the zalmans coming out on top performance wise.

Wait a second, that's the thing I want, but it says P4. :( I want one for my XP 2200+!

Can I fit it onto a P4? Sorry, I don't have either a P4 or an XP right now, so I'm not familiar w/ sizing, mounting or anything.

Thanks bwass24

The Shuttle heat pipe will easily mount to any motherboard with a standard Pentium 4 mounting bracket. The retailing clip does a very good job of holding everything in place.

Your problem will be that the the fan doesn't actually mount to the top assembly and there's no screw holes on it. When the assembly is in a Shuttle XPC, the fan shroud mounts to the back panel and the the 'radiator' part of the assembly just inserts (but isn't held) inside of it.

Dagnabit!

I meant to ask, Can I mount this to an Athlon XP? That's what this will be going on to.

:Q

Been watching too many cartoons lately?

From what I've been reading, Shuttle might be releasing some new XPC accessory components soon. One of them just might be an XP heat pipe. If you check out the SFF forum on SudhianMedia you'll find some interesting info.

If you wanted to mount this to a XP you would have to modify it so that it has a clipping mechanism instead of the spring tension device it comes with.

Yes, the link in the first post is part of Anands review of the newest Shuttle system(s).

Hmmm...I'm not thrilled with modding the clip/mounting mechanism. It also occurs to me that this heatpipe is designed to be mounted on a CPU that's horizontal, and I'll be putting it into a tower case. Would it still work? I'm thinking not.
