Looking for a guide to help setup a home network

I want to setup a basic network consisting of two computers and a d-link router.
I have no experience with this.
Any sort of guide or link would be greatly appreciated.

First, establish a Network, by using the Router as a switch, when it works config. the Router?s Internet part (it is the easy part, and the Router?s manual will tell you how to do it).

Of course knowing what OS you are planing to use would be of great help!
