Hi there gamers,

I'm currently finishing Risen and this game is great!

I've done Divinity 2 and the Gothic series but now i'm looking at a good/great 3rd person view RPG.

What would you suggest?

Dragon Age?

Yeah, I got it and done it.

What I'd like is more of a solo RPG like Risen. Your player alone in a huge world and lots of good stuff to do.

I already done the Elder Scrolls series too.

the new witcher is coming out soon. if you haven't played the first one yet, i'd highly recommend it.

also, Drakensang: The Dark Eye isn't too bad.

I need to go back to finish two worlds.... don't remember if that's first person or 3rd. but similar game play to risen.

How's Two Worlds?
Epic Edition worth it?

Drakensang, i'm gonna take a look at this and maybe A Farewell to Dragons...

Mass effect is 3rd person, isn't it? I haven't played in a while, but I remember it being pretty good.

two worlds has potential. you should have enough pc power to run it at full today.
don't know what epic edition is. i got it when it first came out. didn't get to play much and now i need to install it on my win 7.

oh, i should look at farewell to dragons too.

I picked up Two Worlds (PC) at GoGamer for like $5 and enjoyed it for awhile. I got like ~40 hours into it and was liking it but after that it got kinda old and I rushed through the rest. Im sure given the amount of time I spent on that first section it could have easily done another 40 hours had I not powered through the rest.

As for rushing through the rest a fair amount of that was that it was getting old but another factor was that this was around the Steam Holiday sale where I purchased like 15 other games (like everyone else) so I was getting the new game itch.

Another enjoyable bargain bin title was Mercenaries 2. There were a fair amount of bad reviews but I had quite a lot of fun with it.

The two best RPGs ever made = Baldurs Gate 2 (PC, Shadows of Amn) and PlaneScape: Torment, both third person and use the same engine. But, it is dated.

NWN2 can get the job done if you need prettier graphics. I can suggest many great community-made modules for NWN1, but again... dated graphics.

I didn't enjoy Two Worlds very much.

An off the wall recommendation if you happen to own a PS3 is Demon Souls. It is hard but very, very good and sounds like what you are looking for.

are you only looking for D&D type RPGs?
If not you can take a look at mass effect 1. Mass effect 2, although great is not much of an RPG.

Most people wouldn't consider isometric to be the same as third person.

Isometric is just third person zoomed out! :awe:
NWN2 is kind of true third person, isn't it? I haven't played it yet, I think I'm too afraid because I'm spoiled by BG2...

Pick up Two Worlds right now for 90 cents (no joke) from Gogamer: http://www.gogamer.com/Two-Worlds-fo...VVviewprod.htm

Honestly, if you're a fan of Risen and the Gothic series and you've already played Divinity 2, there isn't much else that's going to be very similar to those games besides Two Worlds. And I really enjoyed that game myself.

The only other game i'd recommend that falls along the lines of the titles mentioned above would be Morrowind with a couple good mods installed. Which was 100X more fun than Oblivion IMO.

Top 4 from best to worst.

1. Mass Effect 2 (This actually replaced Half Life 2 as my all time favorite game.)
2. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
3. Fallout 3
4. Mass Effect

Both Mass Effects are amazing and introduce you to some of the best Sci Fi you can get your grubby little hands on these days. Love those games so much. Do yourself a favor and tough out some of the slightly annoying gameplay aspects of ME1 just so you can get your save games for ME2 and know what's happening in the story.

Oblivion and Fallout are both from Bethesda and are really immersive RPGs with many hours of gameplay.

Despite the bad reviews, Two Worlds really tempting me. For 20$ you have the Epic Edition on Steam.

I looked at Drakensang and A Farewell to Dragons and I don't really know about both. They look ok but there's something I can't explain holding me on those.

For the other suggestions like Baldur's Gate 2, NWN 1 and 2, Torment, ME, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Kotor, etc I already own of played them already. Planscape Torment and Baldur's Gate 2 are probably one of the best RPGs I played but I tried them again and can't really get into them as before.

Can;t believe I'm recommending this, but how about Gothic 3? I think it's from the same devleoper as Risen. And with the community patches it is quite playable. I think its available supercheap from GOG.

Yep i'm considering it too and I read good thing about that community patch.

The thing is, I'm not really demanding graphics wise but I do like my games to look good. Risen IMO is not an extremely good looking game but it's doing the job and more. With that said, going from Risen to Gothic 3 or even Two Worlds...I dunno, i'll probably be downed by the way it looks...

If I can find them both for cheap i'm gonna give them a try anyway!

I can't really explain why but I never really got into 3rd person RPGs but Risen changed that hhehehh.

Gothic 3 and Risen aren't all that different graphically. The art style is essentiall the same. In some ways, I actually think Gothic 3 looks better (the cave in particular are pretty nice looking). Check out the following link, which compares Gotchi 3 and Risen from a graphical standpoint. http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,...c-3-Graphics-comparison-of-the-RPGs/Practice/

Gothic 3 is hard as hell in the beginning, however. Be prepared to get owned.

Well, that's what I like about EU RPGs. No hand holding and a steep learning curve. You're just thrown in there and have fun heheh!

I'll consider Gothic 3...but should I do the 2nd first?
I already done the first one but nerver played Gothic 2...
