afaik the D2E is the newest chip and I just put a Wasabi 3 and V5 clip on one. Only needed to solder 1 wire. Works like a champ. Only problem with newer chips is it costs roughly $50 for the chip and $30 for the clip. You don't have to have the clip but unless your a pro with the iron it's dumb not to get it.
Now older Wii's with D2A/D2B you can just put a $20 Wiikey in a go on. The newer chips are high but hey I got a 2 and 3 year old that like to destroy discs and always finds away to get my originals if I forget to put one up. Now I can keep them put away

and not have to worry when I leave the house.
