I'm looking at creating my own labels for cds and dvds that I burn. what's a good printer for doing such? I want to print directly on the cd/dvd, but on sticky paper. That is unless printers that print on cd/dvd suck/are fazing out.

thanks

Look no further......Epson R200. Or R300 if you want to spend a little more. The printed results are unbelievable......

How much better is the R300. Or is it the R200 with a LCD screen?

Oh, also what is the diffrence between the R300 and R300m?

The Primera Signature Z1 seems to be a pretty neat. It is thermal and can do graphics. http://www.primera.com .
froogle or pricegrabber for prices. The Casios seem to be a bit more problematic. I hesitate to recommend Epson because of their well-known clogging problems and that you have to use printable disks - OTOH, they are general-purpose printers, so you only have to clutter up your workspace with one printer.
. The Primera works well with standard disks like Fuji, TDK, Imation etc. - ones that don't already have printed backs.
. Some of the Canon Pixma models are set up for CD printing in their European versions. IDK why they chose to exclude that feature on the North American models - one would think it would have helped sales here quite a bit. Perhaps Canon is using Europe as a test market and will include the feature in the next rev if it works out there. Some of the necessary parts are already present on the NA models. If you're willing to risk a print head, there is a special thick-media setting that can be accessed from the latest version of the driver and you could attempt a semi-manual feed. :) Not recommending, just suggesting...
.b.h.

The R200 and R300/R300M/R320 have identical print quality (same print engine).

The most major difference between them is that the R300 series has memory card slots, PictBridge and LCD menus built-in (you can print directly from cameras and memory cards) while the R200 requires a PC connection to do anything.

The R300M is the R300 with a removable color LCD and cropping features. The plain jane R300 can actually be converted into a R320 by purchasing the color screen that was available for the 960 (sometimes, CompUSA and Costco have them for $20). The R320 replaced the R300M and has a smaller, non-removable color LCD.
