Hey. I'm looking for a new 19" monitor. I want it to be a 19" flat aperture-grille CRT. I want it to give a GOOD, sharp picture in 1280x1024 @85 Hz (at least). My Cornerstone p1460 is supposed to do 1600x1200 @85 Hz no problem, but it's so blurry it hurts my eyes. At 1280x1024 @85 Hz it's tolerable, but not as sharp as it should be. I have to turn the refresh rate down to 60 Hz to get a good, sharp picture, but then the flickering kills me. So for this reason and a few other ones, I wanna get rid of my current monitor.

I like to play UT2003 alot and some other games of that nature. I'd like to get one for <$350 USD if I can. Could somebody give me suggestions? Thanks in advance!

What I'd is to forget about a 19"'er and start thinking about a 21". I got a 21" ViewSonic P810 (.25mm) for $200 and it's like new! Something like a 22" ViewSonic P220F (AG) would rock and make your multi-player experience all that much better.

Just an idea.

You also realize that your monitor may not be the only problem......... 16x12x85 on a vid card with crappy filters looks like ass.... make sure you have a radeon or Parhelia, or a high end gf4.......... look for something with at least 400mhz ramdac...... that ought to be sufficient for that res and refresh rate

Well my video card is a GF4 Ti4400 overclocked to Ti4600 speeds. So I dunno.....

I don't need a 21 incher. That's just too big. Also, I can't have a "multi-player experience" right now because I'm stuck with 56k, maybe forever. But I still like to play it alot because I like blowing people up.

Thanks for the suggestions and keep 'em comin'.

Hmm.... okay, then it is your monitor.... a gf4 Ti should be fine.......

Don't just choose on impulse, this is one thing you need to carefully consider, because you'll be staring at it for years to come... keep an eye out for hot deals too.

Yeah, the only problem is I'm too picky. I can't seem to find a perfect one for the price I want, according to reviews. Each one has some flaws. I guess I'll just have to decipher which flaws I can live with and which ones I can't.

I got a g410r (trinitron fd) a couple months back for <$320.00. It's sharp as hell @ 1280x1024/85HZ, 1600x1200 looks sharp too, but is far too small to be usefull for anything but games/graphics.
