Looking for a good case for my Athlon XP 1600+

I have looked at Antec cases and I like them, but they are expensive. Best Buy and Compusa have them, but they are like $70 or $100 and I dont really wanna spend so much on a case. I have seen some cases for about $40. I would spend about $55 MAX. Help me out on the necessary features, like I think I would need 300 watt, but do I need more? Also I want a fan in the back in addition to the PS fan. I dont think I would really need on in the front though. I am looking at cases on Pricewatch.com and I might get a generic-type one but I dont want to skimp too much. Please help...

Things to know:
Athlon XP 1600+
Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM
Floppy
GA-7VTXE (onboard sound AC '97)
56X CD-ROM and maybe a TDK 12/10/40
Visiontek Geforce 3 Ti 200
Linksys 10/100 PCI card (maybe will add a second for IP Masquer.)
Audigy (not just yet tho)

Try the enlight cases from newegg. I think mine was about $60 or so shipped. They have one additional fan in the back, as well as one in the front, which should be good enough airflow considering the 1600+ uses less power. Just remember to get a good heatsink. The case itself is pretty sturdy...got a few cuts from working in it, but that's okay. Overall it's a pretty good case for $60 dollars. Its called the ENLIGHT EN-72370X3C4 from newegg.com

Yeah I think I am gonna buy it online, now. Best Buy and other stores are overpriced. I want it WITH a PS and an approved one for the 1600+. I'll have to check out the enlight ones. What are some good online resellers for case buying. DOes the case really matter as long as you have a good PS?

Hey that enlight case sounds good. I was pleased with newegg.com ( I bought my Gigabyte mobo from there and it came in like 2 or 3 days and that was fedex saver) I will get that, but do you think that is a good PS on the ENLIGHT EN-72370X3C4. Its on sale for 47 + 15 shipping. thats great!

The fact that it includes a fan is also great :)

Some in the hot deals forum have suggested this case.

Evermax @ newegg

If you could find a deal on an antec that would be my first pick. I love entec cases, but they will all put you over budget unless you can find a good deal on the 282(I think that's the right number) series or if you stretch it the ps-630. I purchased three of them last year with free shipping (no longer available) for about $50 ea. IF you could find one of those with a 300 watt antec PS it would be awesome.

Here is the Antec 630
...a better case but more money than you wanted to spend. You could check for other models there.

emscomputing has free shipping now, so that would be a hot deal in and of itself. Mixed reseller ratings.

edit...they look to have raised prices to account for the free shipping :disgust:

Free shipping is great, but that is unfair that they raised prices then. Anyways Newegg.com seems to be a great reseller. I have to look at ems computing too, but i just bought that Enlight case. I hope my computer build goes well...*fingers crossed*

Newegg doesn't ship as quick as some, but at least they've kept me posted on my order. I would have ordered the case frmo them as well if their price would have been a bit better. I would have paid $10 more for case, but $20 was a bit hard to swallow.

I've purchased an Enlight case before. I didn't like the build quality as much as the Antecs, but they are nice and reliable. You shouldn't have any problems with it at all. Good luck on your computer build, and wish me luck on mine.
