Mediocre Wireless + Mediocre Giga Switch = Mediocre Device.

I.e. sum of mediocres does not make it Good.

Well, then, like I said, help me find something that's not mediocre.

The DGL-4100 is a very good router, with a decent gigabit switch, although it doesn't support jumbo frames. The wireless though -- woah.. "sucks" doesn't even begin to describe it... You could try it out for yourself, but with no antennae and no radio, my guess is that it don't work good.

The DIR-655 is its modern upstream replacement. I think the only reason that the DGL-4300 still exists is because of its strong reputation based on its user base.

But if your router's working fine and you don't have a specific reason for upgrading the router or its wireless, then you could be just as well or better off getting the DGS-2208. If you need or think you might need that many ports, it makes obvious sense -- you wouldn't get that many ports off a single new router.

Here are some router performance charts, FYI:

Wireless Cable/DSL Routers are combo units that is comprised of:

Routing Circuits + Access Point + Switch.

If the Wireless does not ?shine? and the Giga switch is ?so, so?, not too much left there.

If there is one part of the Router that is almost the same (performance wise) across the gamut of most Routers it is the Routing circuits.
