Looking for a Gigabit router

I am looking for a wired gigabit router. I have no need of wireless, but I do need it to be able to interface with my cable modem and have QOS for my VOIP.

It's starting to look like for 4 port routers I would need to go with one capable of wireless to get something decent for a lower cost. It's almost as if the manufacturers are ignoring the wired sector for smaller networks. I would get something like the D-Link 655(I think thats it) if I have to, but prefer not to. I would rather keep my wired and wireless as separated as possible.

Any suggestions?

You know, wireless can be disabled in about every wireless/wired router.

It's usually more expensive, sometimes even more than the wireless version, which makes the wireless version with wireless disabled typically the better buy.

The linksys version of the DGL-4100 is about 50 bucks more and gets horrible reviews http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16833124091, when you ask for none wireless gigE routers your choices are rather limited. To be fair I have the linksys Gig E wired router linked and have had no problems with it but I have not used most of the advanced features.

The Network Entry Level Devices is Not like Hallmark Cards, you can not say I want a Pink card with Green Frogs and Gold Stars, and find one.

I would get the most inexpensive Router that interface well with VOIP.

On regular peer-to-peer Network with onboard Giga NICs and MTU 1500 I get 50 Mb/sec. transfer.

Do you need that kind of bandwidth on the WAN? If not, why don't you get a simpler router with VOIP etc. and then get a gigabit switch? It will also allow better separation to let you enable jumbo frames more effectively should you choose to implement it.

I am actually leaning towards the 655 now even though it has wireless.
I do need gigabit and currently run separate 10/100 router and giga switch, but the router is less then ideal for my VOIP and I want to
reduce the number of devices.
The 4100 is possible, but it does not list QOS as a feature.

it has QoS, that is what "gamerfuel" is in D-link speak, I have reservations about D-link but those have been fading thanks to these boards

You can get more information on the DGL-4100 by looking at DGL-4300 information/reviews -- they're essentially the same, except for the wireless.

The DIR-655, DGL-4500, etc. share the same lineage, but have newer and somewhat faster hardware. Being more recent products, they might also have a longer support life. The down side is greater cost.
