Nope! AMD CPUs are no longer good for gaming.

If you're now willing to buy online, this pre-built looks nice for < $600, but you could also go back to the plan of buying that parts and building it yourself.

Hdd only you can tell but 1tb is the bare minimum for most gamers with no other storage. Ram has to be min 8gb

My first build took me around 2 hours. (not including Windows install). It was so... exciting! I still remember the specs exactly :

- C2D E6600 with a $30 Scythe cooler
- Gigabyte P965 DS3
- Sapphire X1800XT (was DOA in 2 weeks so X1900XT replaced it)
- 2x1GB Patriot DDR2 667 memory
- 250GB 7200RPM WD Caviar
- Ultra Aluminus case and X2 550W PSU bundle
- Windows XP Pro
- Some loud 2000rpm Aerocools which I later added a controller to

The first time I fired up TESIV Oblivion, I was amazed at how smoothly it ran. Everything felt so quick, coming from a 2ghz Celeron and AMD X700Pro. I then overclocked everything that week : E6600 to 3.15ghz, RAM to 840mhz and CL4, X1900XT to 700mhz. It all ran great for a while. About 8 months later my RAM died because I was feeding it 2.1v (stock was 1.8v).

He was working in a $900 budget. Obviously, you can get more stuff in your budget.
