Looking for a free network mapping software

I am looking for a free peice of software that I can use to kind of 'draw' out a network diagram with, have it show the the user/computer name, and store some inventory information like the type of equipment + SN.

I'm calling it 'network mapping software' in my head, but I may be using the wrong phrase.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I did a rough google search and looked through download.com, didnt find much...i think I'm using the wrong name.

Are you wanting a program that will scan everything on the network and report the info back to you automatically, or just a way to record information that you already have?

Not looking for it to pull data, just insert information that I already have. Thats why i thought there might be something free out there.

The easiest way would be to just put it in an Excel spreadsheet. I've done this before and it works fine for a small office. With just a little more effort you could create an Access database to store the informatin.
