Looking for a Florida panhandle vacation spot

Anyone got any recommendations?

Looking for a beachfront spot somewhere on the panhandle. Preferrably not a high-rise hotel.

3 people including a 4 year old traveling in June.

Mobile is a nice town, right across the border into Alabama. Lots to do, good food, nice hotels, reasonable prices, friendly people.

Seconded. If you want to go to the beaches, then Mobile is a great place to stay for the reasons above.

Nothing wrong with Mobile. We used to vacation there and enjoy the beaches.

My family always liked the Blue Mountain Beach area. This is located next to the Grayton Beach nature preserve. This area is about 20 miles east of Destin and 36 miles west of Panama City.

Destin / Fort Walton Beach is very nice as well.

I love Mobile, but you can't beat the beach at Destin. Navarre, Ft. Walton, Pensacola are great too. Panama City is a bit further down, but it's a bit too touristy for my taste.

Thanks for the responses. Anyone got any specific recommendations for places to stay? The Destin area was already high on my list.

we like staying the the majestic sun in destin. ofcourse it has like 12-14 floors but they are nice condo units.

ugh, Destin, I've stayed there half my life. Waaaayy too touristy now. If you have a high maintenance crew with you, then Destin may be the best place, but I hate that place now. If you want to chill, have the beach to yourself, go around the Blue Mtn. Beach area. Grayton Beach, Blue Mtn., Seagrove area. Seaside is small, but trendy.

And stay away from PCB. Just take my word.

Sis lives in Mexico Beach. Nice enough and not too far from Panama City.

Eat at Killer Seafood. Slap your Mama good.

Went kayaking and snorkeling in the bay. That was cool.

we stayed at Fort Walton Beach once. The beach was pretty nice, with white sands. The city was nothing special.

Destin seemed nicer, it was about 20 miles from FWB.
