Does such a thing exist?

Has to be Mac compatible, would make things a 100x easier for it to have firewire support and record in a format that's iMovie compatible.

I'd prefer High Def and Flash based.

Anyone?

I'm also looking to keep it at or below $600.

try pricegrabber, but this seems to fit the bill

JVC Everio GZ-HD3 60GB Hard Drive Camcorder

I believe ~75% of camcorders have a firewire connection.

Firewire isn't really necessary anymore if you're using a hard drive or Flash based camcorder. You can transfer the files via USB.

But, you need to find out is what file format the camera records to. There are tons of HDD and Flash camcorders... but most record to some wacky file format or needs to be converted into a file that your editing software can handle.

I'd love to get a small, cheap Flash camcorder for general recording... but I don't wanna have to take time to convert files or try to edit heavily compressed files.
