looking for a file for WinMe

maybe this isn't the best place for this but i'm looking for a copy of Vredir.vxd dated 01/19/2001 ver. 4.90.3005.

Apparently this fixes a problem with computers not showing up in 'my network places' under WinMe although you can connect to them. you can read about it here

anyways, there is no link to get the update to this. it just says to call M$ and they will give you th fix. At M$ prices i'm sure. so really I was wondering if anyone here has or knows where I can find it. I've been looking all over the net and can't seem to pick it up anywhere

Just ditch ME. That OS is trash--it's not hard to find Win2k for free.

i agree me is junk, but have you tried searching for the computer? after that it "should" appear in network neighborhood.

insert ur WinME cd, go to Search, and in the "context" menu, the second (bottom) one, type in vredir.vxd , and tell it to liik in "d:\win9x" or whatver ur drive letter is, this will search ur cabs for it .. good luck ..

there is nothing wrong with the connections. I can find all of the computers. but there are no workgroups listed. so i can't just click on them i have to know the exact computer i want to get. really it is an issue with the master browser table. it is not a major problem but the update would make life easier.
