I put together a gaming machine for my wife (really was an upgrade for me with her inheriting some hardware ^^) and I'm looking for some fun multiplayer games to play with her. She's loving The Sims 3 so far but for whatever reason Diablo 3 didn't catch her (she loved D2).

She's not a hardcore gamer and doesn't like FPS typically. Slower paced games are a better bet. I'm tempted to try Sins of a Solar Empire with her but she has no experience with RTS so far and it's probably a little much to jump into. She has a bias against WoW but isn't opposed to an MMO otherwise - we intend to play Guild Wars 2 when it comes out but I'm looking to pass the time until then. We enjoyed Trine/Trine2 a lot, both playing on my PC with controllers. I might try Minecraft with her.

I used to play EVE and am even tempted to start a trial for both of us, but I have my doubts a hardcore scifi game like EVE will keep her attention. Maybe get a friend's account from GW1 to hold us over until the sequel.

Any suggestions on games? They don't necessarily need to be new, but we dropped Neverwinter Nights pretty quick due in part to the aging, clunky interface.

Well chicks seem to dig WoW, at least more then a lot of other games. I met a girl in college that liked Final Fantasy. Can you play StarCraft2 campaign coop?

what about portal 2?

Good idea, puzzle games are a great bet.

I'll try the SC2 campaign too, maybe she'll get a taste for strategy games. Speaking of which, any suggestions for something turn based that doesn't take as long as Civ5?

Turn length varies by player.

Have you tried sex? :hmm:

LOL, nawh, but, trine and trine 2 are good for coop, but you're gonna fight over who gets to be the wizard.

My GF and I played Alpha Centuari together in the day, and it was a blast.

We always played co-operatively.

I don't know if Saints Row 3 let's you play co-op mode outside of the missions, but if driving and just strolling side by side is allowed, depending on your sense of humor, it could be a blast.

Borderlands, let her play Lilith while you're one of the others.

It is a FPS, but not a twitch-fest and you won't be fighting hyper caffeinated 14 year olds.

Girls dig WOW. Atleast after they understand what the game is all about and how to play it. They have problems jumping over crevices though. For example, in FOS, there is a ramp on which there are mobs that you usually avoid in an emblem farm and iin order to avoid them, you have to make a jump. She always fell. At once time, she fell thrice consecutively and Rage Quit. Funniest moment ever.

Actually, got one for you. A Tale in the Desert:

http://www.atitd.com/

It's a great MMO, all crafting and no pvp (or very, very little pvp). No killing at all unless you count starving your sheep or something. Really deep, and a number of skills are incredibly fun. You can have an in-game spouse, the benefit being that you tele for free to each other. I can't really begin to describe it, just encourage you to download it and jump right in. Used to have a 24 or 48 hour free trial period, I don't know now. You do fall behind if u skip like a couple of weeks though. Next telling starts in a month it seems.
