I am looking for a monitor to replace my current CRT, but the computer stores I can order from only have so many models and manufacturers.

I need good color representation (no visible dithering etc. if possible), good blacks and whites, and a very sharp picture quality, with good response times for games and video. I do some photoshop work, some video editing, and I game quite a lot.

From the three sources available to me I have begin to look at the following;
Viewsonic VP730
Viewsonic VX724
Samsung 173P+

All are 17" screens. What can you tell me about them, what are the good, the bad, etc. I need help in judging which screen I should get. Do you have another suggestion (not that I have that many available to order, but suggestions do not hurt).

No, I do not want a 19" because at 1280x1024, they have a larger dotpitch, which makes text less sharp. Price range is hard to specify since it would be in Swedish Kroner (3000 to 4000 Kr).

Skunkbuster; Which Eizo do you mean? their 17" seems to be rather slow, 12 ms, not even measured grey to grey.

The monitors I listed seem to be the best of what is available. Any comments on any of them?
