I have a lot of about 30 or so used books that I'd like to buy. I went to Amazon, found a storefront that had them all, but they wanted 3.49 a peice to ship the books via the slowest method. That was more than the cost of the book in most cases, so do you guys know of anywhere that sells used books for a base rate shipping, say $x for the first and $x for each additional, or $x per quantity or weight?

Half.com is the same deal as amazon, a bunch of individual stores/users selling so there is no combined shipping. :( Has anyone used Abebooks before? EDIT: n/m, they're the same deal. Need to find a store that actually stocks used books, not just individual sellers who charge an arm and a leg for combined shipping.

You could e-mail the Amazon storefront and ask about combined shipping.

Here's Portland's famous Powell's Books: www.powells.com

Like SF? Why not get Brian Daley's Requiem for a Ruler of Worlds, it's spaceoperariffic!

There are some very big businesses on half.com, so chances are you'll be able to buy more then one title from the same seller. Only then do you get combined shipping.

Using the addall.com link above, about half the books were cheapest at amazon and the other half at half.com. Doesn't take into account combined shipping however. Most of the large dealers on afformentioned sites charged a flat fee per book, or a large first fee and a only slightly less large fee for each additional book. Powell's online was more expensive than either Amazon or Half. I think I will buy out the half priced and the other local book shop first, then fill in the rest.
