Looking for a debian/ubuntu based OS without allot of bundled apps

I am looking for a debian/ubuntu based OS without allot of bundled apps.

It seems that every OS out there is loaded with image editing and office apps and others.

I just want the OS with the desktop environment (something lite like XFCE)

My goal is to have a complete installation with my few selected apps on a 2~3gb partition.

Any suggestions?

Install Debian, don't choose 'Desktop Environment' during the install. Then pick and choose your packages afterwards to build your desktop.

You don't have to use the Desktop Environment meta-packages.

that's pretty advanced stuff for the question he asked but yes, this 🙂

otherwise, opensuse + kde 4 is a good combo
