Looking for a DC input PSU

I am currently building a house which will be solar powered. It seems silly to run power from the battery bank through a DC-AC inverter with 80-90% efficiency then through an AC input PSU which then inverts to DC with 70-90% efficiency. That is a lot of power loss from the battery bank to the motherboard.

I haven't been able to find anything so far bigger than 120W DC-DC PSU designed for use in cars. I want something in the 500-700W range.

Thanks

Thanks for the info.

The efficiency listed is 65% under typical conditions- so I might be better off just getting a high efficiency AC input PSU.

I see one enclosed model that puts out 1kW, but i didn't take time to see what output that was. But many of those big ones take a 48V input at some pretty hefty amperage. At least 4G power line probably.

Those aren't power supplies, they're DC to DC converters, which is totally different.

edit: I finally found a 500 watt model: link. Unfortunately, it seems to be an Australian site.

i work at a electronics distributor... PM me what you need... i don't know much about PSU's but i'll ask my boss

Thanks for all the replies

Many of the higher watt models seem to need 48V input. My place will probably be wired with 24 or possibly 12V input. A lot of them also do not seem to be too efficient or have a second 12V plug for PCI Expess. So I will probably end up going with a high efficiency AC input.

Thanks for the welcom and all the replies
Steve
