Looking for a cheap video camera that can record several hours

No frills or bells or whistles

This will literally sit on a tripod in a room and record for about 8 hours. It would be nice if it could hold charge and keep the video in memory but connecting to a laptop might be an option.

How much am I looking at here and from where?

TIA

The laptop will be connected to equipment and will be in use by one or more people the entire time so not facing what should be recorded.

SD or HD resolution?

Does it need to be continuous recording, or motion-triggered?

SD, it would need to be continuous monitoring.

I'll look into the cheap USB option. I was wary of that because the laptop is already recording two different data streams, both at 1Hz, and thought it might be too much being recorded to one hard drive.
