Looking for a cheap and cool CPU

I have been playing with the idea of building a PC for my car (CPC?) and I think if I play my cards right, I can have it for $600 or less with touch screen and GPS. Right now I'm trying to find a CPU that would be fast enough to run music and GPS software but run cool so I don't have to worry about it overheating. I have an XP 1900 but if I remember correctly it runs a bit too hot for a micro ATX case.

I'm trying to make it as cheap as possible, so mobile CPUs are out.

I'd go for a lower end pentium-m, they run very cool, and will be plenty fast enough, or a Sempron would also be a good choice.

something like a P-M 1.4 Ghz?
it would only cost you less than 50-60ish (i think)

While P-M CPUs aren't expensive, especially older ones used, S479 motherboards can be. Even the socket adapter route can be pricey and may not be your best option.

Check out the Turions, which you can use on some standard S754 boards.

Ya, the mobile CPUs are way too much and I'm having a hard time finding MicroATX boards to go with the P-Ms.

I think I may just under-clock that XP 1900 so it will run cooler. I can grab some used Skt. A mATX motherboards for less than $15.

If you look on ebay for broken laptop or something like that, you can usually find a laptop with no screen, cpu, memory or harddrive for not very much money. You can then get a cpu and some cheap ram and a hard drive and velcro it under your car seat or something.
