Looking for a Card

My friend is looking for a video card and would like to get something in the $200 range. Is he better off with a top of the line DX9 like the 1950, or with a mid range DX10 card?

I showed him a 1950pro on newegg and said he wanted to stay away from ATI since their drivers suck for XP 64bit edition. Is that the case, and whats the best card you can get for around $200 these days?

Don't know about XP 64-bit, but ATI's drivers for Vista 64-bit are fine...

I'd say go with the 1950...unless HDDVD/B-Ray playback is his thing...

Well after talking to him for awhile it sounds like he wants to wait until G90 comes out and then buy an 8800gtx. Obviously still going to be quite a bit over the $200 range, but he's going to save up.
