Question Looking for a 24gb card that does not have zero fan

I need a new gpu for blender that has a lot of vram (24gb ideally), but i don't want it to make the scratching noise when the fans start spinning and i don't want to use bloatware like precision or afterburner to make them permanently run at 20%+.
Does such a card even exist? For instance, all the evga cards have the zero fan noise issue from what i've read.

Thanks but i also don't want to do water and spend even more money to make the card "work"

the fans never stop spinning, it is stock,
and you will go deaf if you spend 10 minutes in the same room without hearing protection.


I considered the A30, but since it never spins up fans, it does not meet your criteria. The MI100 was also rejected for the same reason.

If any GC makes a scratching noise when fans start, I would imagine that there is something wrong. On my card I turn off the zero fan option off in the AMD drivers. So my card always runs at 571 rpm (3480 rpm max) at all times, the temps are at 35C idle and maybe gets up 65 or 70 when playing Gods of War or something comparable. Don't know if 24gb cards are different though.

I do not believe AMD makes a card with 24 GB of ram or more that has fans.

Which is why they were all rejected. If there are no fans to spin up, they cannot meet damenmofa's requirement the fans are always spinning.

NO FAN should make terrible noises when starting up. My 5700XT turns the fans off, and I don't think I have ever heard them turn on. Its not until they ramp up that I even notice them.

But its a blower fan, as its intended for workstation use. Its basically an RX6800 with double the memory.

You would think but no, they just do that. It might be not as noticeable for gaming since it only happens once and then the fans keep running, but for work where you have a lot of ups and downs, it becomes annoying real quick.

Interesting, although i cannot find blenderbenchmarks for the w6800 but amd seems to performs worse in general unfortunately.

At this point i would prefer the constant blower noise over clicking radials if i did not have to use additional software, so a blower is definitely not out of the question.

MSI afterburner uses very little resources.

The MSI Suprim cards have a dual BIOS switch that let's you switch between "silent" and "gaming" but I can't determine if the fans are still allowed to spin down in "gaming" mode. It looks as if it may just be a slightly more/less aggressive fan curve.

I run afterburner on my i7-920 PC from 2009 with no notice in used resources so any modern system should have zero trouble with it.

It uses basically nothing.


Decent quality cards do not make any noises when the fans start to spin. Mine doesn't make any noises when they turn on (and this is pretty much silent even in full load).

Just thinking, would a ball bearing fan make more noise than a sleeved one?
