I did a quick search, and couldnt really find a post with quite the parameters I have, so be kind.
As said I am looking for a 27" to 37" LCD TV/Monitor in the $500 - $1000 price range.
What I really want in the TV is:
-DVI input
-VGA input
-HDCP
-1920x1080 RES would be optimal, although not crucial
-Possibly HDMI if its not to much to ask.
Some LCD's I have been looking at include:
-THIS Hyundai
-THIS Westinghouse
-And THIS Westinghouse
My take on the three is:
-The Hyundai I have been wanting to purchase for a while, but recent posting at AVforums have had many people returning this monitor due to lipsynch problems. I put it in the list in the hopes someone would have information on a fix.
-The 32" Westinghouse looks great everything except the 1920x1080, but still in the running. Reviewer at the egg said he had some problems with DVI input, although he did say this wasnt evident in all of them.
-The 37" Westinghouse obviously looks the best obviously. With the 1920x1080 Res and many happy reviewers throughout the web, it seems to be the best throughout all my wanted specifications. It is on the expensive side, however, and I would really have to put in extra hours at work in order to afford the apparently cheaper side $1000 price tag. I mostly extended the price range a little for this one. Looking to actually pay around $800 unless it really seems worth it.
I plan to have this LCD for a while, and obviously would like it future proofed as much as possible. Which leads me to the 1080P Westy, which I then ask, is this really worth the extra $? I also wanted one that would work well with my increasingly old x1800xt, which leads me to the 1366x768 Res TV's.
I have to admit that I am somewhat out of my league. Some things I dont understand about LCD's include:
-Contrast Ratio
-How important HDCP will be in a year from now
-and 1:1 pixel mapping. I keep hearing people talking about it, I just dont get it however.
Thats my somewhat long post. Note that I have not actually looked at many bigger LCD's like these in person, and possibly Thursday hope to go out to places around and compare between resolutions and IQ.
Thanks for reading.
