This is what I would like in my new laptop and of course I can't find one that meets these needs. Are their any out their I'm missing? Here's what I'm looking for:

An All Black 14 inch Laptop
Discrete Video card (Ati or Nvidia)
Matte Screen
Under $1000

Any ideas????

You will be hard pressed to beat this one from Lenovo. Meets all your criteria, plus LED backlight.

I looked at the T400 but to me it looks like a really dated design like it was from the 1980's or something. Too business like and to many things happening their.

ASUS N80vn-X5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?Item=N82E16834220488R
ASUS N81Vg-X1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16834220519

I have a N80vn-A1? (can't remember the exact model #, basically (2.0 GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, 9650GT, no BT) and the only issue I have with the laptop is a little bit of keyboard flex on the left half of the keyboard. I've looked around and there's a couple of DIY reinforcement methods that seem to correct the issue, but I haven't gotten around to trying it on my N80.

Depending on what you're looking for out of your discrete graphics (i.e. if you're looking for a gaming-capable laptop) you might want to refine your requirements a bit. Some discrete cards are no better than the integrated option... like the 3470. See www.notebookcheck.com for benchmarks and desktop GPU equivalencies.

Those asus are fine laptops no doubt but they are all glossy screens. I caved in and got a Thinkpad T400. I used the CCP program plus a 5% off coupon and got a fully loaded one for $850 out the door. That's with a 3470 video card Ati and 7200 rpm hard drive and 4 gb's of ram....and a matte screen LED...

It meets all your stated needs. Good choice and a very decent deal.

Red stuff? The only thing red I see is the red trackpoint tip.
