Hi,

I got a new computer on ebay recently with one stick of 512 ram and i have room for one more.
Here's specs fo the 512 ram:
* Memory Size: 512 MB
* DDR PC3200 400 MHz
* 184-pin DIMMS

I want to get a 2nd 512 RAM but not sure if it'll work good with this 512 ram as when i asked ebayer bout it, they told me they got it from the manufacturer...

If so should i get 2 sticks of 512 and take this out or get another 512 ram only?
Here;s what im looking at:

http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=20-145-440&depa=1
Either the 2 pack or just one of them...please advise thank you.

What are the rest of your system specs? what are your main uses?

If you have a fairly newish system or want to play games, edit digi video or other intense apps then I'd suggest buying a 1 gig pack of dual channel stuff. Perhaps Corsair Value Select but again depends on your sys and your needs. If its a lowish end sys with no intent to OC it then I'd still buy the 1 gig pack and add it to the current 512 so you can run 1.5 gig and be set for another couple years ram-wise. Then again its always easy to spend someone elses money:)

BTW, when I first posted this I hadn't even checked the link to he CVS mem yet so we are thinking much alike.

If you are running it at DDR400 speed then it should be fine. You may have to loosen the timings in case 1 is set for CAS 2 and the other for 2.5 etc...

Here's the System Specs:
* Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz CPU With Intel Hyper-Threading Technology
* 512 KB Cache
* 800 MHz Front Side Bus
* XP4-6540G Motherboard - 800FSB, DDR400
* Memory Size: 512 MB
* DDR PC3200 400 MHz
* 184-pin DIMMS

The motherboard got only 2 slots fo Rams...so its either 2 new rams, or add one more...Im using it for gaming, music, chat, videos etc..

If I do get just one more stick of 512, how can i make sure it works at the best ability...? Thanks.

For future reference, if you are gaming do not ever buy a computer on Ebay. Punkbuster bans on the hardware level and if you get banned hardware, you cannot play any PB-enabled games.
