Max Payne, although it wasn't really "made" in 2001... more like "made" from 1996-2001 🙂
Monopoly Tycoon was a surprisingly addictive game for a couple months for me.
Return to castle wolfenstein was a solid game.

imo it wasn't the best year to be a pc gamer, with all these consoles coming out and the great games out for them

Serious Sam was pretty cool. No fancy storylines or cinematics...just mindless violence. 🙂

I think all the games were pretty disappointing. Nothing took my attention away from CS/RA3 for more than a few hours.

Black and White = 7-8 hours
Max Payne = 1 hour
RTCW = 5 hours
Tribes 2 = 6 hours (I spent 5 hours just crossing the terrain in this godforsaken game!!)

Now that was rather short! I expected more, like some sort of conspiracy on Eos...The vehicles were the best part...I don't know why they incorporated recoil into only the rifles though...

Why is it 1 gig? I thought it uses the HL engine

Max Payne.

One of the few games that are on my very short list of games that "blew me away."

Others on the list:

Homeworld
FF7
Command & Conquer
Freespace 2
Planescape: Torment

Not saying that these are the only really good games out there. On the contrary, there are a bunch of excellent games that have been released. But only a few "blew me away" so to speak after playing them.

Others this last year that deserve mention:

Baldurs Gate II: Throne of Baal
Ghost Recon
