Looking at the G7, shapewise it's basically identical to the MX700...anyone used both mice?

More idle interest than anything else...hard to justify replacing a mouse that i really enjoy using and that works perfectly

I find the fact that logitech has gone back to the MX700 shape for the G7 interesting, since i didn't like the MX1000 shap at all...and the LX700 was just awful.

I suppose the weight of the G7 would be down a lot, which would be annoying after i've come to appreciate the extra weight the two AA batteries & charging gear bring to the MX700...

uh, what a dumb comment. My MX700 runs games perfectly fine. i have no lag issues whatsoever. if you're one of the people who claim to have lag issues every time you use any peripheral that is wireless, grow some brains. technically speaking, wired is faster, but realistically speaking, it honestly doesnt matter.

Well, i've been very happy with my MX700 for gaming, so we can assume i'm happy with the wireless option ;)

meh, i never notice this so called wireless lag. i have mx700 and mx1000. the 1000 sensor does seem to be slightly better. well.. if you press your finger against the sensor hole and move it aronud you have much more control from the laser sensor than the led one. so its better for different surfaces atleast. the lithium ion batteries do last way longer per charge than the aa nimh, thats convenient. plus, not as heavy. as for shape. yea, mx700/g7 is superior to mx1000. i like the tighter faster button click feel too. the buttons flanking the wheel/thumb are simple quick buttons instead of the big two buttons per chunk of plastic on a seasaw type deal the mx1000 has.

Thanks for the flame, but I can tell the difference, and it is big enough to be noticeable when I'm not looking for it. My problem isn't in games, it is in the UI.

I have both mice, and Im really happy with my G7. I have no issues with lag or anything, and the rechargable battery packs are sweet. I do get interference with my wireless router since they are on the same frequency, but thats probably because they are really close together. The one bad thing about the G7 is the lack of a forward button. That took some getting used to, but its not too bad now.

Yeah, lag because of wireless. I haven't been in high school physics for a decade or so, but I'm pretty sure radio waves travel at the speed of light.

I've been using wireless mice without any lag for years. Current primary mouse is the bluetooth model that comes with the Logitech Di Novo set.

The mx1000 had a bit of lag, but the G7 is flawless in my experience. Oh and I got mine for about $18 :D

When I used the MX700 it had noticable lag, but the G7 to me has absolutely no difference in latency from a wired mouse. It's great. I like the feel and the weight as well, because with the battery, the weight ends up being similar to many of the heavier wired mice. The only annoying thing is that the battery doesn't last very long. Under a lot of usage, sometimes it doesn't even last a day. But it recharges as quickly as it's used, so you never find yourself out of batteries by alternating between the two.

It's not the wireless that gets you, it's the radio processing.

Ya, I noticed the lag on the mx700...turned me off completely. No amount of lag, not even the smallest amount, is acceptable in an fps game.

Which turned me off on wireless mice for the longest time, but I got a killer deal on a MX1000. It has virtually no lag, and this is coming from a person who is so hyper sensitive to it that I'd be bitching endlessly if there was any.

The shape and weight of the mx1000 is terrible for gaming.

Since the G7 came out after the MX1000, I'd assume there is no lag either.

;)

I've never noticed the lag myself, but then i'm not exactly 1337, i enjoy my fps games a lot tho. I really hated the MX1000 shape, and personally didn't notice any lag difference to my MX700 (don't they use the same FastRF technology?).

Well maybe i'll see if i can try a G7 in store somewhere :)

The G7 is the first wireless mouse IMO that finally breaks the whole "OMG ITZ WIRELEZ DAT MENS LAGGG!!!" barrier. It is completely on par with the G5, the only thing it is lacking are removable weights, which aren't really necessary.

Right you just remove the battery and...oops!

Actually I've been using a G7 for almost a year now and its response is indeed excellent. Most indistinguishable from its wired cousin, the G5. My biggest gripe is battery life and it's probably attributed to the fact that the mouse is in motion a lot due to ship movement. I wish there was a switch on the bottom to turn it off - like the MX1000. That mouse, btw had noticeable lag and was too heavy.

Um, the G7 doesn't have a power switch, but it does have a power button. And I've only had mine since December :p

I have both an MX1000 and a G7, and while the MX1K had no lag, it did have a very annoying flaw where if you lifted it off the mousepad to move it it would take about a quarter second to turn back on, just long enough to get killed in BF2 or CS. With that said, the G7 roxxorz my boxxorz, buy one.

The only wireless lag Ive ever noticed from a mouse is the first wireless optical mmouse that Logitech put out. Other than that, the G7 is just as responsive as the wired counter-parts.

There is a power switch. :) Just hold the green button for one second to toggle on or toggle off.

I've used a logitech radio controlled, balled mouse, the MX510, MX700, and a generic Kensington optical... I've never noticed any lag, period. Maybe the problem is that most people put their wireless base too far from the mouse?

I moved from the 700 to the G7...I miss the forward button, but IMO in every other way the G7 is superior, and the shape is quite similar (the texture is sheer, like epoxy though)
