Looking at the G7, shapewise it's basically identical to the MX700...anyone used both mice?

I moved from the 700 to the G7...I miss the forward button, but IMO in every other way the G7 is superior, and the shape is quite similar (the texture is sheer, like epoxy though)

yuck. i get sweaty hands in hot weather playing UT2k4, that would be nasty :p

It's not that bad, but I don't have perspiration problems.

sweat iew. luckily i don't sweat like that heh
hows the g7 finish wear?
my mx700 main silver button ares didn't wear much at all. is it plastic or metal, hard to tell. ilike that texture. button number one is slightly polished though, and the buttons flanking the wheel are a bit worn, well the printing on them is. my mx1000 is defintly all plastic. buttons are loser, u tap them lightly you can hear them move a bit, theres a slight gap between the switch and button, lower quality craftsmanship. the tolerances on the mx700 were damn tight

I've been using the G7 more than half a year and no signs of wear yet. The finish of the mouse is polished plastic, so rubbing wouldn't have the effect of smoothing the surface like on other mouses.

There are a few features that i would love to use with the g5/g7, but the lack of the thumb button is just to much for me. I have grown to dependent on it. As soon as they get the second thumb button on it, i am all over it.

I'll bet it's still under warranty.

Warranty or not, Logitech is usually awesome about support issues.
