Looking at purchasing our first home from a For Sale By Owner...need some questions answered and advice please

I agree with getting a lawer soon. However, first ask the owner what they want for the house. Plan on offering 10% less than they are asking. Now ask yourself if you are willing to pay that price? How about spliting the difference, are you still comfortable? Is the price in line with comparable homes in the same neighborhood? If your answers are yes to all of the above questions, then get the lawer. If any answer is no, look for another house. Lynn
