Looking at one of the entry lux cars

Yup the 3 series is all sedan. The 4 series I'm looking at is a gran Coupe so basically it is a 4 door Coupe.

Well I asked all my friends and all of you guys are completely on the side of the 4 series lol (not one person said go for the 3). I'll keep looking and try to see which dealers will play ball. I might end up ordering one since they don't have much inventory at the moment. Do any of you guys have experience ordering your car? How'd that go?

i've never done it, but I would have to assume that when you order a vehicle, you tend to get less of a deal, or no deal at all, especially when you're financing / buying. can someone else chime in on this?

From what I've been reading around another car I'm interested in, dealers are only negotiating on ordered cars. The ones they have on their lots they're not going below MSRP as they know they can sell them. So it's the opposite.

It looks like Irvine is willing to play ball. The sport line might be out of my range a bit. I really wanted that black with red stitching but that might not happen since they're asking for 2k more

Irvine has one that's going for $47,225 MSRP, willing to sell for $43,295. $551 a month, $989 due for first month/taxes, 0 down. This one has technology package and harman kardon in Black on Black, which I like more than the grey (My current car is grey, I need a change lol).

This is before my $1000 graduate credit. Also I registered for BMW's Un4gettable drive this Sunday. They are giving me $1000 credit to go test drive as well. Basically I'm looking at about $500 flat a month after taxes and no down.

Damn 7 days is crazy. I might follow that route if I can't find anything I want exactly.

Looking at it now, I think the Irvine one might be the best fit. I mean I really love the red stitching on this

but I don't think paying $2100 more for the sports package is worth it just for the stitching (I could care less about the other stuff that comes with it).

The HUD is an awesome selling feature.

When shopping for car, the only criterion that's a deal breaker is the tranny...if it ain't got 3 pedals, I walk.

I have a 2013 335i xDrive (F30 generation). It's a nice car - I've had it for about 16 months w/ 9500 miles. I love the tech in the car, and it spoils you - heads up display (HUD) is a must for me in my next car. I really wish the 4 series GC (or even the coupe 4 series) was available when I got my car, because I definitely would've gone either of those. Driving experience is great - turbo engine is underrated, and makes great power with great fuel efficiency. The only other car that is fun to drive in the class is the S4, and have also been hearing good things about the IS350 F-Sport (although the engine is a carry-over from the last generation), but I haven't driven the IS350 (also not available when I bought my car). The CLA-45 would've been a fun car, but it also wasn't available when I bought my car. I needed a car soon, and couldn't wait.

BMW has always been more aggressive than Mercedes when it comes to the deals. Mercedes is even more stringent with the new C-class, since a new generation just came out, so availability might be tough. If you can wait till next year, the next generation Audi A4/S4 should be here.

Also I'll add: my A4 is sporty with the sport package and Audi Drive Select - but nothing beat the sportiness of the 330i I drove. In sport mode, it felt pretty damned sporty and was my second choice.

The main reasons I went for Audi was that I trust Quattro more than I do any other (XDrive is nifty looking, and probably works almost as well as Quattro in real world situations, but Quattro is all mechanical more or less, and virtually bulletproof), it's nav system was better than what I saw in the BMW, I fit slightly better (6'4", 200lbs), BMW Bellevue near me is terrible for service (Barrier isn't) and most importantly: where I work has price advantages. The program with Audi basically lets the dealers give you more or less the actual cost of the car; the dealer makes their profit because Audi will turn around an pay the dealer for every sale made to someone from my company.


The Lexus for comparison's sake, wasn't as sporty as the BMW, I know little about its AWD system (it struck me as "meh" - I made it slip around some. I have to put my A4 into manual transmission mode and kill traction control to get the A4 to slip on gravel for comparison); the driving modes are a bit funky and didn't give me a vastly different feel of driving. Acceleration was OK, but on par with the A4. The main thing that made me go "cool!" was that in addition to a rear camera, they have cameras on the front sides to help if you cannot see well enough to pull out.


Overall, the IS2/350 struck me as a "meh" car. The crappy dealer experience didn't help any...and their insistence that the Audi cost less "because it's a german car, it will fail. This is a lexus, it won't fail" just turned me off. My TSX was a Honda, so much for it being reliable....

You don't like center console parking brakes that much? I mean I guess having a foot operated parking brake allows for bigger cupholders.....

$550 a month, $1000 at signing. This is before unforgettable drive credit and graduate credit. I was thinking of maybe putting $1000 down as well. Basically $3000 "down" so it should drop it about $83 a month to about $467?

So far this has been the best deal given to me.

I think I am going to go with the European Delivery. It is going to save me about 3 grand and I get to spend a week in Munich, Germany.
