I have used similar Gigabyte mITX boards for HTPC builds with i3 3225 CPUs and they work just fine. You only need 4GB RAM if you are just doing HTPC or Internet video streaming.

I haven't seen a 1 GB hard drive in years!

Edit: ah, see you made the fix now.

Personally, I am a big fan of Gigabyte.

I've got a Gigabyte B75 mATX board in my HTPC and it's solid all the way... I really like it; I'm sure the B85 is no exception and is a good choice. I'm curious about the performance of that DAC port...

Like Alan said, 4GB RAM should be sufficient unless you just want 8GB (can't fault you there.)

DO IT :) but go ahead & get the 8GB of ram now, since it is cheap as dirt atm, but wont stay that way for much longer, with the newer stuff hittin the market soon and production will be scaled back anytime now.....

I changed my mind. I purchased this at newegg:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128615

The picture and supporting data said it had 802.11n/g however, I received the same model but version 2.0 which has 802.11ac

I looked at the box it came in and it confused me. I said what does ac mean? a and c are both slow. Then I figured out ac is a new wireless which is even faster. I wonder what they were thinking when they called it ac?

The BIOS has some win8 specific settings.

Of course I got the HD and it just would not work. This is the second build in a row where I had to send the HD back. This is getting redicuous.
