you can play music + videos on the NDS just fine. the emulators however aren't working too great yet on the NDS. the homebrew scene on the NDS is not as quick as the PSP.

if you wanna search on a post i made it posts all the information in regarding to flashing a DS lite to run homebrew, which includes media players and what not.

I say buy both if you can afford it!!!

Personally I go through stages. One period, i'll be totally into my DS and then another period (like right now), i'll be into my PSP. Right now, i'm addicted to Tekken: Dark Resurrection for PSP. Might as well get both so you never get any feeling of regret for choosing one and not the other. Bought both and am quite pleased at that choice.

If you like emulators and such, then get the PSP. I used to do that but upgraded firmwares to play legit PSP games (i.e. Tekken). But that's ok cuz my bro has a PSP with all the emulators and such.

GET BOTH!!!!

You can. Movies have to be in DS video format though and isn't very good. Music is fine.

DS for the games, PSP for games on any system except the PSP itself (which is ironic).

First I've heard of it. I was rather pleased with the DS Lite body. Instead of having the exterior painted white, most of the case is a clear plastic with the white body underneath. The way I see it, if you scratch up your case, the scratches will be less noticeable since they're on the uncolored plastic.

As people have already pointed out, since you want a portable for more than just games, the PSP is the only way to go. Get yourself a big memory card (2GB or higher) and you can store tons of video and music on there.

The DS DOES have the better, more innovative games though. And this is coming from a PSP owner who's had his PSP since launch and still only has 3 games (compared to 8 for the Xbox 360).
