I know most will recommend a DS Lite for the games but I ain't sure yet. I want something for more than the games. PSP does movies, music and games out of the box afaik and DS Lite just does games. Even though DS Lite has a crap load of games it doesn't do any of the other stuff out of the box I don't think.

But my question is what games are out for DS Lite to make it worth the purchase over PSP and what games are currently must haves for PSP? Also what is the best PSP and DS Lite sites? Looking for a site similar to Xboxscene but for the PSP/DS.

Thx

Well I don't know anyone that owns DS or PSP for that matter. So playing with friends won't happen anytime soon anyway. I may just get a PSP since I can use it for music and movies till more games do come for it.

Mario Kart DS for DSL alone kills PSP and its entire game library.

If you're a gamer, you'll buy the DS...you can buy carts to watch videos and listen to music, but honestly, I would never want to use a PSP as a media player. Buy a DS and then a new Sandisk player :p

the psp is heavier and bulkier tho. the screen is excellent and it makes up for the weight. i bought a logitech case for mine and i'd recommend you buy one too if you do get the psp. you dont' want to damage the screen. another thing is, you have to convert each video that you put into the psp. it only reads mp4 videos and nothing else by default. actually there is a homebrew video player thats suppose to play other files but i haven't been able to get it to work.

I have had my PSP since launch, but the games suck and I have barely played it. In fact, it's on Ebay now. Sure you can watch movies and listen to music, but I have my Fujitsu ultraportable laptop and Apple iPod for that.

I bought DS Lite about a month ago, and I play it much more often than I did with PSP. Graphics may be inferior, but the games are just more fun.

EDIT: Oh, DS Lite battery >>>>>>>>>>>>> PSP battery

Single player or playing with friends? Both? I keep looking at PSP's screen and then DS's and thinking go PSP man. Either way I need more suggestions then Mario Kart which I've never been a fan of.

the official psp game list is pretty lame. but the DS can't match the PSP in terms of homebrews like emulators.

It looks like you have made up your mind already. Just get the PSP and you can always sell it if you regret later.

Yeah, looks like you just want a portable gadget that does everything. DS is all about the game and nothing but the game. You should get a PSP.

Yeah but what good is a nice screen there isn't anything killer to use on it. Basicly main reason for me starting this is I was wondering if someone could post a few A+ titles for each for me to look up. Whichever looks more interesting I'll probably go with. That and your fav website for DSL/PSP.

Go over to IGN.com's DS and PSP sections and read up on the reviews and previews. I don't follow the PSP scene so I don't know what they got coming up, but I can't wait to get my hands on Mario Hoops 3on3 and FF3 (maybe even Starfox Command). When Zelda DS comes out for DS, fap.

Actually psp does have a decent library, but nothing you cant already play on a ps2. the ds produces more fun times simply because nintendos games are geared more towards multiplayer hilarity. With the whole case cracking thing popping up for the DS im starting to regret buying one so quickly. I waited for second gen PSP and dodged the whole dead pixel fiasco, but looks like I wont be so lucky with the DS. Luckily duct tape fixes all. *cross fingers*

Not really. If it does, Nintendo repairs it on their dime.

You don't need to play with friends, you can play MKDS online as well.

Great DS games:
MarioKart
Trauma Center
Phoenix Wright
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
New Super Mario Bros
Super Princess Peach (no, I'm not joking, it's awesome)
Metroid Hunters
Metroid Pinball
Brain Age/Big Brain Academy
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Sonic Rush
Tetris
Advance Wars DS

Upcoming:
Final Fantasy III
Star Fox Command
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Phoenix Wright 2
Mario Hoops
Elite Beat Agents
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Settlers
Yoshi's Island 2
Cooking Mama
Mario v Donkey Kong: March of the Minis
Contact

Not to mention all the great GBA games you can play as well.

More and more articles popping up daily about cracked DS cases. Seems to happen during normal use. I haven't read anything about nintendo repairing it on thier dime, or at all for that matter. But honestly it doesn't matter, personally it would be too much of a hassle for me to ship my DS to nintendo and jump through the hoops that they probably will make you jump through.

Just about everyone I know (regardless of age) owns a DS Lite, and I've never heard of a single cracked screen. And Nintendo repairs practically everything on their dime. Show me otherwise.

Positives of DS: Fantastic games (both traditional and inventive); incredible battery life; great load times; plays GBA titles.
Negatives of DS: Can't play visually intensive games such as GTA.

Positives of PSP: Good screen for movies on a plane, subway, etc; games that resemble current gen stuff.
Negatives of PSP: Poor battery life; annoying load times (and I'm usually not bothered by them); game library not that great right now; support for movies dropping drastically.

I sold my PSP last week after owning it since ~launch. I've had a DS Lite since it came out and play several times a week.

DS can run emulators too.
