Since Ive been having issues with my motherboard for the past 2 months or so(Instabilities galore), Ive decided its time to upgrade.

Im pretty sure Im going to get the AMD XP 1600+.

Ive pretty much used only abit boards but I was thinking about getting something cheaper this time around.

I was looking at the shuttle ak31, the msi kt266 Pro2(name?), or a abit kr7a

I dont need a raid controller or onboard sound. I dont plan on overclocking this cpu either. Im looking for a stable board, a board that will be have support for it even after its not actively being sold.

Im leaning towards the abit just because Ive used there boards in the past and are comfortable with them. I was looking at the other two with interest, but reading all the problems is making me 2nd guess myself now.

What would ya'll do?

AK31 is the cheapest between the 3. Even if u r not O/cing, AK31 seems fine. Cheap & stable.

Have to investigated the instabilities? Most of mine have been hw conflicts or software/OS problems.

My most stable have been fresh reinstalls from scratch. I have an Epox 8k7a that's been my best amd board and my other one is an old aopen ax6bc, rock solid with XP and an overclocked celeron at 1200.
