I have a 9600gt in my computer right now. It gets the job done but I still want an upgrade. Should I buy another one used and jam it in their to run dual video cards, or should I just buy a different video card? I don't want to spend much more than 100 bucks. I also don't care if it is nvidia or ati.

Processor is an e8400 dual 3.0 ghz.

the market at sub 300 is ATI only as things stand. why? BECAUSE nVidia failed so hard i had ribs breaking. nVidia is coming out with some lower priced derivates of the Fermi gen of cards later this year though, so if you want one you could hold out a few months.

How much better would a sub 100 ATI card(I don't mind buying used) be vs. 2x9600gt?

you should be able to get a 2nd used 9600 gt for ~ $50; go with that, then you will have plenty of options re future upgrades.

Hm I think a used Radeon 4850 would probably be equal to 2x9600GT's, the SLI 9600GT's may edge it out in games that use SLI very well.
