How do this type of dog do when left alone in the house for most of the day while the owner is away at work? The g/f and I work kinda the same shift but that means the dog would be in her cage (at least at first, until we could trust her out of it) from around 6am until 2 in the afternoon which I don't feel is fair but I also understand that it would only be potentially temporary.

If you exercise her enough before you leave for work, it's possible a dog at that age but more than likely after four hours, she's going to need to get out for a walk to do her business and exercise.

How much exercise are you going to be able to provide her that early in the morning before you leave for work?

Well our shifts are a little staggered, so Payton would be able to go out between 4 and 6 for a bathroom break and maybe be on a dog run in the back yard for awhile, and then again between 7:45 and 8:15 or so when I leave for work but that wouldn't be long. Then at 2 in the afternoon, the g/f would be off and Payton would be able to be out for the rest of the day unless we go somewhere.

Ours doesnt have a problem being in her crate over night. Around the 8ish hour she needs out to use the bathroom. We just make sure to play with her for awhile before we go anywhere for a long period of time and again as soon as we get home.

Well, we decided to go forward with the adoption, I'm going up after work today to fill out the paperwork and as luck would have it, we have an anniversary coming up on Monday so I'm going to pick up Payton Monday and bring her to her new home as a surprise to the g/f. Thanks everyone for your advice and if anyone wants to see, I'll post up some more pics Monday when I get her home.
