Looking (again) at a BMW

In the last couple weeks a bunch of used 2007 BMW's seem to have hit the market here (detroit area), and they seem to be going almost too cheap, there are around 10 328 xi's ranging from $22k-$28k, all with ~50k miles.

Is there some problem with these cars that would cause them to be so cheap, or is it just likely lease turnin time?

This is probably a moot point again, since after I test drive one I'm sure I'll find it too small, but one can dream.
 
Save your money to get the f**k out of Detroit. Honestly, that's my recommendation.

Otherwise if Loterhon's numbers are accurate, just go new. Skoorb does not want a BMW with 50k miles on it that is used as a primary driver. Not even a little bit.

I think it's just the lease turn in time. There are a bunch in my area too. I just wish some would offload their 135s already.
 
The 4 door base is $22, the ones for $28 are low mile coupes optioned out.



Well then figure out what options you want and price it out. In the end it's what you want to pay and afford. I just can't see myself paying 28K for a used car, even a 3 series which is on my short list. (e46 most likely).

It's still buyers market out there if you are not looking to lease. Depending on how long you want the car, new might be better. To me 50K miles is at the very least 25% of the cars life assuming a usage ceiling 200K miles without major overhaul. Results will vary and this might be on the high side or low side depending on the car. If 50K is worth the difference in deprecation then go with the used since its more likely what you'd rather pay anyway 😀

The invoice on the 2010 328i xDrive 2dr Coupe AWD (3.0L 6cyl 6M) is 35K, no options.
The invoice on the 328i 2dr Coupe (3.0L 6cyl 6M) is 33K, , no options.
 
I ended up looking at these because I upped what I was going to spend a bit when I realized I was checking out 2007 Volvo S60R's at $22-$25, and finding 3 within 300 miles in a manual.

The car I'm going to check out is in Birmingham, is a coupe with 42k miles at $24k, I just wanted to make sure there was nothing 'wrong' with this year, which seems to have been accomplished

What I was originally searching for was sub $20k AWD's with a manual, subies are too small, audi's too much to keep running.

If you really want to know though you'll hit up a BMW forum to see what really is under the hood with potential issues with these cars (if anything).

Yep, the trans tunnel is usually too large for me to get my legs in, I had an 02 Subie Impreza TS for a few years, loved the car but I walked with a limp lol, the last 325 I drove was better, but still not acceptable.

I just had my second high pressure fuel pump replaced a couple of weeks ago. The first one went at 2500 miles. The second at 9200 miles. I started my car up on Sunday and it long cranked meaning my pump is going again! This is less than 200 miles since I replaced it and on the same tank of gas no less!

The 328s don't suffer this problem so no need to worry.
 
A manual 328 is probably one of the most reliable BMWs out there. I've had my E90 330i for 4 years, 80,000 miles with only maintenance (free, I got 100k). The only warranty work was reflashing the computer for updates.
