looking a pair of headphone to block whisper

What I'm actually looking is a pair that can not only block the ring tone and whisper in the living room but also provide hours of music without hurt my ears by large volume. I have a pair of shure e4c here, but the outside sound cannot be blocked during the interval time of songs. Any idea?

Sennheiser HD-280's?...

Some closed cans pretty much.. Noise cancelling headphones... no clue...

Sharp MD-33's can block out whispers, but not ring tones during intervals.

Maybe look at etymotic canal phones, depending on your budget. Or some kind of noise cancelling phone, but not sure about long term wearability.
Search here.

LOL, that's the forum where I was be advised to get the shure e4c. Well, e4c might be one of the best canal phones to block sounds and only high-end professinal ones would have the performance I asked.
Thanks anyway.

if you're so annoyed by an occasional ring tone, and a whisper in another room, maybe you should get some canalphones (etymotic's come to mind), and 4 big pillows. put the phones on, then duct tape the pillows around your head. you won't hear anything, i promise.

you certainly are one whiny, picky-as$ son of a B1tch.

Are you using foamies? If the foam tips can't do it, I doubt you'll find anything better w/o getting canalphones that have custom molds. Some really big closed cans might work, but I wouldn't count on it.

ebaycj: E4c are canalphones, and offer better isolation at frequencies that we humans care about than do the Etymotics. I  my E3c.
