Lookin for the best big screen I can get (48inches+) at around $1700, not a cent more ;). What do you guys recommend. Want HDCP so I can use later formats, HD obviously... SPce isn't too much of an issue, really don't want it to be a monster depth wise.

Mainly for Xbox (current) and next gen consols. Would like the ability to hook up a DVI computer but that's optional.

 Projector?

I haven't been keeping up with new protection protocols (I'm waiting for things to get standardized and sorted out before I pay too much attention to it).

Can't get much thinner than my screen that's the thickness of a photon I guess ;)

If you have a dark environment, you can get a huge screen for cheap.

Check out AVSforum and Projector Central for more info.

AVS will have plenty of info on other display technologies too.

Plenty big, but will it look alright up against a wall, with no screen? How is mounting accomplished, it would have to be on the celing in my room somewhere yet there's a fan that could potentially be in the way. Last is it compatible with the DRM that's being introduced with hd-dvd and bluray?

I took this on a plain wall using my 4805

My projector is mounted on a stand for now.

I don't know which projectors are compliant with new standards of protection, but the X1 (4800) and 4805 are both old models and don't have anything like that afaik.

I'm sure there's plenty of info over at AVSforum about it.

Is there any models like one step down from the 700, it's pretty much at the very very tip of my money limits, and I wouldn't have the money for the mounting hardware and extending all my cables etc.

Sanyo Z3?

I don't know if that has HDCP.

Check cablesforless.com for cheap cables with reasonable shipping.

Grow some balls and go into debt and get a 62" HD DLP.

Seriously, cables are going to cost you $100 minimum (if you get the good stuff), considering you have a HD reviever. I wouldnt cheap out, when you buy TVs, you get what you pay for. Dont expect a $1000 big screen to look anywere near as good as a $1700 (relative) one.

Excellent on the Z3, thanks. It has HDCP so I'm happy there. And the cables site has what I would need. Thanks for your help bro.

Hey bro, I'm freakin 15... I have a set amount of money and can't go into debt. I'm not getting a 62" as I have a 65" in the living room, this is for my personal room and I don't have the space... hell i'd be sitting like 5 feet from it. I know you get what you pay for and I know what I'm gonna get for the money I spend. I've been setting up home theatre stuff for 5 years, I just wanted some recommendation on a middle of the pack HD...

You're going to be sitting 5 feet away? How big is your room?

You should probably check out throw distances and recommended seating distances for image sizes over at Projector Central.
