something comparabel to a radeon 9700...

they all have built in intel graphics...it's driving me mad.

I don't want to do hardcore gaming, but there are a few semi-3d less intense games I'd like to enjoy...and no, I don't want a larger screen...

I've searched all over and can't find a single laptop with this feature...anyone know of any?

Well, Sonoma's integrated graphics really are a lot better than Intel Extreme Graphics 2.

The Latitude D610 is a pretty small 14" laptop that you can get with dedicated graphics. I haven't seen anything smaller than that with decent graphics. The VAIO S2700 series has a 13.3" screen and a Mobility Radeon 9200, but it's not really any smaller (it's the same width as the Latitude D610).

Toshiba has a goofy tablet/laptop that you might like:

Finding a laptop like that is like looking for a compact, fuel-efficent car with a V12 engine. Go figure.

Actually its more like a GF4.

I know Sony had one of thier S-series (13.3" widescreen) with Radeon 9700 graphics, thus it was the "old" Centrino platform.

What you want is the Asus W3V: 14" widescreen Sonoma with X600 graphics.

The only model on the market to the best of my knowledge that has a 13.3"/12.1" LCD and a ATI 9700 is the Sony Vaio VGN-S270/S360. I know, since I own one lol. It's a pretty awesome little machine :). It's great toting around a ~4lb laptop to a friend's house for a little gaming...they see it and laugh at you, then you proceed to own them in Counter-Strike: Source (based on HL2) at high settings at 1280x800 LOL. Here's some physical dimensions/weight comparisons to the ever-popular Dell Inspiron 700m:

Sony Vaio VGN-S360
Dimensions: 12.3" x 8.9" x 1.4"
Weight: ~4.2lbs

Dell Inspiron 700m
Dimensions: 11.7" x 8.5" x 1.5"
Weight: ~4.1lbs

The S360's go for $1699 at bestbuy, which is a lot. I see the often on eBay for about $1300-$1500 new though, probably could get a used one for less. Note that it is based on the "older" Intel 855PM chipset, but the "newer" sonoma platform doesn't offer that much of a performance increase, and usually runs hotter/uses more battery life. The one complaint I have about my S360 though, is that the fan gets LOUD, especially when gaming. I guess its due to Sony squeezing in an ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility into a ~4lb machine lol. Good luck!
