I was walking around my dorm when I found a computer sitting by the trash can. Looked around & it seemed like it was being thrown out (the case was TRASHED). I carried it back to my room & with some gentle work (;)) with a hammer, pliers & a screw driver I managed to salvage the critical components (it was just the case and floppy drive that were damaged). Anyways I kinda set it up here on my desk & powered it up. Surprisingly it worked (surprised the HDD worked at all....you could tell it had taken some shock). I even ran scandisk & maxtor's HDD tools on it & it seems 100% ok.

Here is what I just got for free: (nothing spectacular, but still worth the $$$....fun linux box)

Pentium II 333Mhz
MSI 440LX motherboard (AGP, 4x PCI, 3x ISA), 4 DIMM slots
128MB PC(66?) SDRAM (is the 440LX PC66 or PC100?)
4.5GB Maxtor HDD (ATA/33)
24x CD-ROM
SiS Virge/DX PCI Video - anyone know what resolution this will run @ 32-bit color?
Asante 10/100 PCI NIC
PCI 56k modem (motorola software modem) <- Going on sale soon
ISA sound card
235w ATX PSU

Now to buy a KVM (which will probably be worth more than this computer)...

Nicely done!

Still quite a sellable machine; some people just have too much money ;)

My 4mb S3 Virge could only do 800x600 @ 32bit; 1280x1024 @ 16 bit though.

I know the chip is only 66mhz (last time I checked there wasn't a 3.33x multiplier!) but really the memory could be anything.
The 440BX supported a 100fsb, I dont know about the LX, so you could be lucky and have PC100 ram in there.
However, I havent seen any PC66 sticks that couldn't do 100, and i've seen a few of them ;)

Maybe if it's from Bodgy Uncle Bob's Memory Shack...

Like everyone else said though - good find!

Nice find! My kids still use a P2 400 everyday. Lots of things you can still do with that machine.

Some people really place little value on things. So sad.
