try adding in a Y to that equation. can't solve for both of them.

and if you can't solve a single variable equation on your own, you shouldn't be on a computer

Look at your result. It clearly states: 30 = x = 5.2

How the heck does 30 = 5.2?

Yes I'm being picky. But this bad math technique will spread like wildfire and soon no one will know how to properly write math (let alone do it for themselves). Just like people spell 'night' like 'nite' all the time now.

I'm sorry, my A at A-Level in Maths is obviously completely wrong, and I thought this was pretty basic stuff. Do you care to tell me where the fvck I've gone wrong?

Your math is completely correct. Like I said above, the answer of x = 5.2 is correct. Read carefully, I said "one more 'math' thing that gives a correct answer". However, their steps leave a lot to be desired.

They say: 5x + 4 = 30 = x = 5.2. Sorry but those are NOT ALL EQUAL!

It would be correct to say something like this:
5x + 4 = 30 gives x = 5.2

Or this would be nice as well:
5x + 4 = 30
x = 5.2

But 30 = 5.2 (as the website states) is 100% incorrect.
