A friend of mine has a 50inch HD plasma and that thing is f?ing HUGE! But a 60inch

My current TV is only a 37inch plasma and I'm looking to upgrade to a new Sony 40inch LCD soon. Any bigger and it would look out of proportion in my room.

Well if your anything like me and a lot of other HD tv owners that couldn't wait to jump on the hd train, next few days I will be seeing your thread on how great the tv is, how great hd looks, and how sh1tty any other channel but hd is, and can no longer stand to watch your favorite shows.

I was so excited to go hd, got it, put on the hd channels and was drooling in amazement at how great it looked, then I watched a sd channel, all washed out, looked like it was drawn in the set by a child with water colors and could only paint in blocky colors at that.

I hope your tv does a better job at producing SD images then my Olivia 32" LCD did, or my Toshiba 65" crt did, or it is going to be a total let down till they all get their heads from their asses and make it all hd, or something, so you get full use from a HD set. Sorry to be a buzz kill, just seeing your excitement reminded me of me, and couldnt wait for my tv to show up, and then wham, was I so ever disappointed, 15 hd channels, and 100+ sd ones, and could not stand to watch anything on sd anymore for it looked so damn bad.

Trust me I know exactly what you are talking about. I have a 50in 720p Toshiba CRT right now which does not convert SD channels at all. The new one is said to do a really good job at doing so but we will see. I do plan on buying a PS3 for the blue ray DVD capability which will really show this TV's wonder. i was going to get the sony Blue ray player but the PS3 is actually rated as the best player out right now (link) and then I'm debating if i should get the xbox360 HD DVD player or toshiba's better one, im not sure yet. I'll also be hooking my computer up to the TV via HDMI and playing games at high rez which the Sony is rated well for doing.

If i wasn't planning these other investments and such i would have just kept my current TV, the HD channels look awesome on it and its about 5 years old but the Pc support and lack of 1080p for me was enough to get a new one. And i got my current one at a steel while i worked at CompUSA.

I guess that I'll be happy with whatever HDTV I end up buying then since I don't watch any tv, so wont be bothered by SD broadcasting.

I have a really cheap refurbished Phillips 30" CRT Tv I got for $400 shipped, that does a great job with SD and HD, LMK if this new beast does them both justice ;)

I no longer have my LCD, got rid of it for I couldnt justify it, and my 65" Toshiba broke and Toshiba bought it back, I bought a front SD projector for 1/3rd of the price of the toshiba, including the screen, and will never buy another kind tv again. 100"+ is the sh1t. It even has a better picture then my Toshiba did in hd, and obviously sd as well.

I was worried about how the SD reception would look on my 46" Sammy DLP after reading alot of the threads here. After my TV arrived, my worries were for nothing. SD looks great on it.
