Look what I just found

Are these things reliable?

Not in any way, shape or form. Parts are gonna cost you an organ and a child's tuition as well. NO

Does it's blinker fluid cost a lot?
$75/qt

Do I have to use full synth oil?

No, just carry around a gallon or two of Delo in the trunk to replace what that mobile oil slick is going to leak out.

Not to be harsh, but if you have to ask what it costs to maintain a car like that, you shouldn't even consider it.

The brake systems on those things is unique, look up the details of it. As I recall it's the Citroen hydraulic system re-engineered for RR. A French/British product? Eek

Don't know much about Rolls, but it looks like it's in great condition. I bet parts will cost an arm and a leg for it though. Also, the 1980s 6.75L V8 mated to a 3-speed automatic gearbox probably gets worse mileage than most modern medium-duty trucks.

This kind of car is one that only shows up in car shows, as a garage queen. You couldn't use it as a daily driver. Better off just being a gently used Beamer for that price if you want to be a wannabe baller.

You will be able to see the fuel gauge needle moving...

Regular Gasoline
9
Combined

City
10
Highway
11.1 gallons/100 mi

Sweet baby Jesus if that beast uses the dreaded "feedback carb" system, run away. They were a horrible attempt at regulating fuel flow by constantly adjusting the metering rods "on the fly", all were problematic and by 1987 every manufacturer had switched to at least TBI (throttle body injection), the feedback carbs were a warranty and drivability nightmare for car makers, as soon as FI was affordable they all switched over stat..

That car would probably be near the very bottom of what I would buy. It would probably be more appealing if I were 50 years older.

We would know it was you when we saw you on the road. Can't be many of those cars out there.

Some nice looking cars in their inventory generally.

As others have said, it's not worth it unless you're a mechanic who knows how to work on this car and you have a nice big budget for parts.

Only places I've ever seen a Rolls is at weddings. Even the rich old guys don't drive them anymore.

Hmm, slightly off topic but I've never understood why Rolls puts such ridiculously big and powerful engines in these things. It's not like rich Uncle Pennybags is getting Jeeves to take him for a Sunday jaunt around the Nurburgring.

They weigh 3 tons...

There's an older guy in my neighborhood that drives one, though it's probably from the 90s and not the 80s. I can't say I know my Rolls' that well to tell the difference.

I am over 50 and still would not like it.

One also has to sit in the back; not drive it yourself to generate the proper impression :hmm:

If you can't afford to maintain/fix or insure a NEW Rolls Royce, this one will be MUCH worse.

PS. Apply above to ANY used car you are thinking about.

Also, V12s for smoothness.
And "power reserve" as well as smoothly delivered torque, so you get that silent whoosh, when you need to get away from poor people.

And of course a "sufficient" top speed needs to be maintained, to rush back to the manor from the hunting lodge, in case of dire news. And you gotta be able to outdrag the Bentleys.

That thing will do nothing but part you from your money until you sell it...

I used to rent cars to a woman who owned one of these money pits. Every time she took it in it was at least $5k for repairs and every few months I'd see her back again.

Hmm... What I really want is that "whoosh". I wonder if Shonky has something that provides the "whoosh". :hmm:
