Better looking, better tasting.

Slightly out of focus but it still looks good.

Better tasting, most likely.

Better looking? oh hell no.

Bald Eagles are the best looking bird out there. So fierce and magnificent.

They are my favorite birds out there, or at least tied for the top. Falcons and most eagles are just awesome. The Bald Eagle is just beautiful and majestic while being an amazingly fierce predator. Glad to see efforts works to get their population numbers in check.

They aren't much of a predator. They scavenge, and steal a lot of their food. They're pretty for sure, but other raptors are better hunters.

Why do you always have such predictable (douch bag) responses?

peregrine > all birds. as far as eagles go, though, the Bald is actually a big wuss. more of a scavenger than anything

Not only that but I'd rather have a large picture than that 0.2 megapixel bullshit from the speed cam thread.

You need a bird feeder for it. Go hang a large hunk of meat from limb for it, alternator sized at least.

This. Yeah....doesn't seem fitting of a national symbol of pride.

That is one thing I seriously dislike about super mega pixel cameras. Everybody has to post a 10000 x 10000 pixel image of everything. I usually try to resize to at least 1280 x 1024 unless there is a real need for fine detail, and even then post a warning.

And to the OP, it would be nice to see an eagle in my backyard, but the best we ever get is big hawk raptors.

It's better than Franklin's suggestion... A turkey would have been a terrible bird.

Franklin's Letter to His Daughter (excerpt)

"For my own part I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country. He is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly. You may have seen him perched on some dead Tree near the River, where, too lazy to fish for himself, he watches the Labour of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a Fish, and is bearing it to his Nest for the Support of his Mate and young Ones, the Bald Eagle pursues him and takes it from him.

"With all this Injustice, he is never in good Case but like those among Men who live by Sharping & Robbing he is generally poor and often very lousy. Besides he is a rank Coward: The little King Bird not bigger than a Sparrow attacks him boldly and drives him out of the District. He is therefore by no means a proper Emblem for the brave and honest Cincinnati of America who have driven all the King birds from our Country . . .

"I am on this account not displeased that the Figure is not known as a Bald Eagle, but looks more like a Turkey. For the Truth the Turkey is in Comparison a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America . . . He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage, and would not hesitate to attack a Grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on."
