Look what I brought out of storage

Big nostalgia feeling right now. Anyone owned one of these? I went through 4 years of college carrying this thing with me.

I also owned the deck that allowed to record from radio directly to MD.

I know the technology was great, but all things proprietary are generally overpriced and eventually die. Had mp3s not been so versatile and easy on batterys (no moving parts to play them), we would have seen more of these technologies out there.

Since you never listed what it was and all photo hosting sites are blocked from work, I can only assume its something cool.

MINIDISK !!!!:awe:

Damn I loved those, and I still have mine. I had a deck for my stereo system and a portable unit as well. Those were awesome. Sound was great and basically you had the perfect media for music. They were rewritable mini cd's that came in a nice protective sleeve.

If the iPod didn't come along I would still be using them.

I still have my Panasonic I bought at Circuit City back in 2003. NEVER skipped. Back in July I was using it to verify some music CDs I burned for a road trip I took.

I came across my Sony MZ-R900 portable when cleaning/organizing recently. Amazingly it still sells for nearly $100 on ebay. That reminds me, I need to list it!

Much love for sony MD . I had way too many as they were very useful in recording lectures and then rehersals. Used them for years and recording quality with a good mic was pretty good for the day.

Something like this was the last portable I had before mp3 players...

That doesn't look quite like I remember, but it's close. I bought it from a friend of mine. Music company made tapes sure did suck :^S

I had a three.

First : Cost £250 or £300 back in 2002/03?

Second : Smaller, lighter and awesome stick remote

Third : Only needed a player as I used my MZR90 to record

The main draw back was the real time recording. The sound quality was really good though and the stick remotes I liked a lot. I really missed that when I got my iPod in 2002 which I sold a few weeks later as it was too big. I think I had the 4GB one at the time and dodgy software to make it work on a PC. I eventually got the 3rd gen (I think) iPod with the touch pad wheel and 4 buttons across the top.

NetMD's came about as well but the software was suppose to be a pile rubbish and I never bothered with them. That was my MD days over. Then I got an iPhone in 2007 and I never got another iPod device.

I'm pretty sure my MD's are at my parents place in my desk draw?!
