Look up AIM screen name?

Does anyone know if there's a way to look up a screen name from a master list? I thought I had the person's screen name right, but when I enter it for my buddy list I get a message that it's invalid. I might have mixed up the numbers at the end. Any ideas?

I have never heard of AIM saying that a S/N was invalid

Well... i know you can make up any combo of letters and numbers you want and add it as a buddy, regardless of whether or not thats an actual screen name, so you must have done something weird in order to make it invalid...

just added two S/Ns literally 5 minutes ago, the difference was 1 character letter, and when that person got on with the correct one, AIM didnt say anything...

thats really odd.

if you know the email address they used to create the account, you can look it up.

Just google it. If you try my sn you can get my AIM, yahoo, ICQ, phone number, address...

You can put any name in your buddy list and if it's not a real s/n, it will just always be in the "offline" list.

If you try to send an IM to that wrong s/n, AIM will just say that user is not online or something. So really you can put any wrong S/N and AIM will still accept it.

Nope this one refuses to add. I can add it, but it just doesn't stay in my buddy list when I return to the main screen. Could it be the name I'm trying to enter is too long? Is there a length limit on AIM screen names? This one is like 18 characters long.

Edit: I think that's it. I tried a different name 18 characters long and it won't stick either.

i thought it SNs were up to 16 characters....wait, lemme look on gAy-OLs site.

maybe you are typing in the SN which has too many letters?

Just use the AOL s/n finder. Of course, for users of Trillian, GAIM, ect, it sucks because their isn't one.
